Core Beliefs

  1. Jesus is the savior of mankind. He is the living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His Virgin birth (John 1:1-5; 3:16-17).
  2. The Church is an expression of the kingdom of heaven on earth. The true church is composed of all persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, are united together in the body of Christ. The church provides a place for communal worship of God, a place for growth in faith, and where people can be a part of a Christian community. The church equips believers to take His message of salvation out into the world (1 Corinthians 12:19).
  3. Salvation is an act of God’s grace available to everyone. It is God’s loving act to deliver us from the consequence of sin, which has separated us from God. We are saved from the penalty of the sins of the past, the power of sin in daily life, and the presence of sin in the future. Salvation is received by faith—one must hear the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection, believe, trust Jesus (Romans 1:16) and repent, turning away from sins (Acts 3:10).
  4. Evangelism is the communication of the gospel in such a way that an informed decision for Christ is called for. God sends the church out to proclaim His message to the community and the world (Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 10:13-15; 2 Corinthians 5:20).
  5. Service is the gospel in action. Motivated by the love and compassion of Christ, service is the act of meeting the felt needs (physical and emotional) of people, with a view toward sharing the gospel with them (Matthew 9:35-38; 25:35-40).
